Celebrating Unity through Community Arts is a literary full-day workshop of performance poetry and literature. It includes readings, writing prompts and more. 1-2:30PM: Writing Workshop (Story of My Safe Space) facilitated by Mwikali Words. Mwikali Words is a poet, and the author of Love: Discovery, Recovery, and Relapse. She has also been published in Soupcan Magazine: Issue 3, and When Women Speak Poetry Anthology: Volume 1. Her stage performances include: Paterson Poetry Festival, Lincoln Park Musical Festival, and Newark Arts Festival. 2:30-4PM: Dream Diaries facilitated by Lisa “Rubi G.” Ventura Lisa “Rubi G.” Ventura (she/her) is a Washington Heights bred Black Dominican poet, essayist, teaching artist, and author of “Con qué papel me envuelves la luna?” A VONA alumni, her work has been published and showcased by numerous literary magazines, anthologies, and arts organizations. This arts program is made possible in part by a 2023 HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board of County Commissioners. This event takes place at Vauxhall Branch Library.
